Garage of Evil Home Haunt How-To – Down and Dirty Mold Making – Mike Privett
Ever make a prop and think to yourself, I’m never going to get the second one to look that good? Have you ever settled for one skull when you really think five (10, 100?) would have taken the design/room/cemetery over the top? Have you ever run out of heads to corpse? Well not anymore!
In this class we will explore mold making utilizing common and readily available materials. Examples include silicone, latex, alginate and plaster to create and recreate items for props, costumes and decoration for a haunt.
Some basic sculpting techniques for creating items to mold will be covered as well as issues to watch out for on the various materials. Cost effective alternatives to more expensive materials will be highlighted for attendees and several techniques will be demonstrated for different types of molds. Some attendees will be able to participate in making a mold. Molds or castings made during the class will be given away to participants at the end of the class for personal use.
