Monster Makeup Wars

One of the Midwest Haunters Convention’s signature events is Monster Makeup Wars.  Five teams of three, two makeup artists and a victim, have 30 minutes to create a monster from the neck up.  The catch?  They must do it only with the items we supply them with at the start of the competition.

Bloody Mary Monster Makeup Wars

The Midwest Haunters Convention will be accepting applications to compete on Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the Bloody Mary Monster Makeup Wars. This contest will offer contestants the chance to compete for coveted title of creating the Scariest Monster! Five teams will compete (1 model and 2 make-up artists) with identical make-up supplies to create a monster! Entries accepted through April 8, 2012. Teams will be randomly selected from all entries.

Selection Process

Midwest Haunters Convention is accepting applications for teams to compete in the Monster Make-up Wars competition. We’ll have five teams competing.

We will conduct a drawing from all team entries.  We will announce the 5 finalists by April 16th.  Teams will have until May 1st to pay their $25 entry fee.

Consider sponsorships to cover entrance fees!  All three team members must be registered for the convention to enter.

Contest Rules

To enter, you must meet the following criteria:
o    Registered as a convention attendee.
o    Availability to participate in the contest on June 9, 2012 by 4:30 pm.
o    All team members must sign a Model and Liability Release Form.
o    One member of each team must check in with Kathy Schieferstein (MHC Producer) by NOON on day of competition at registration.  Failure to do so will be considered a NO  Show and we will be calling the next team on the waiting list.

The $25 entry fee (which may be paid for by a sponsor) must be paid in full by May 1st.  The 5 teams will have 30 minutes to create a monster from the neck up, using only the items supplied by the Midwest Haunters Convention.  They will include basic make-up supplies, along with various special effects and some “out of the ordinary” items.

Contest Judging

Corporate sponsors, media representatives and guest speakers will serve as judges for the contest.

The teams will have 30 minutes to complete their monster from the neck up.

Judging will begin for the make-up wars at approximately 5:00 pm.

Incentive/Contest Prizes

Teams competing will keep make-up supplies and receive an assortment of prizes from sponsors and vendors.

The winning Makeup Wars Team will receive:
o    $100 cash
o    Prizes from sponsors and vendors

The second place team will receive:
o    $50 cash
o    Prizes from sponsors and vendors

Models from all five teams will each receive a Bloody Mary prize.
Teams can keep all remaining makeup from their kits (valued over $100).
